COURT HOUSE — On Sat., Aug. 7, at 10 p.m. Middle Township police received a 911 call from the Court House Hotel.
The caller reported that a tenant, Robert Gaunt, 25, was wielding a knife. Upon arrival of investigating Officers it was found that Robert Gaunt had entered the room of Dane Shaw, 53, and assaulted him.
Shaw received wounds to his face. He was treated by Court House Rescue at the scene, and then transported to Cape Regional Medical Center.
Gaunt fled the scene with the weapon as Officers arrived. The county Sheriff’s Department k-9 unit assisted with the investigation.
Gaunt has been charged with burglary, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. An arrest warrant has been issued for Gaunt.
Gaunt turned himself in to the Cape May County Jail according to police. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
