Police Recover Stolen Motor Vehicle, Charge One

By Press Release

CAPE MAY – John J. Rutter, 52, of Mercersburg, Pa., was arrested May 7 shortly after midnight on charges related to theft and receiving stolen property.
While on patrol May 7, Patrolman Scott Krissinger noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and failing to stop at a stop sign. Shortly thereafter, Krissinger stopped the vehicle, a 2005 Porsche, which was being operated by Rutter. Subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen from a residence in Del Haven, and that the owner was not yet aware that the vehicle was missing.
Rutter was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. Rutter was transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center after being unable to post bail set at $7,500.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
