Police Recover Stolen Car, Seek Suspect

By Press Release

This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
VILLAS – On May 6, at approximately 9:17 p.m., Lower Township Police Department received a 911 call from a woman advising that her vehicle had just been stolen from her driveway on East Pacific Avenue in Villas. The reporting party said she started her vehicle to warm it up prior to leaving for the evening. She returned a short time later from inside of her residence to find that her vehicle had been stolen.
According to a release, responding officers began immediately searching the area for the vehicle, described as a silver 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. During the investigation, Michael J. Harron IV arose as a suspect.
Officers located several addresses where this subject may be hiding and responded to each of them. During the follow-up investigation by multiple officers, Harron contacted the police department. After speaking with officers, he disclosed the location of the vehicle but would not cooperate with officers to reveal his whereabouts.
Investigating officers then responded to the 100 block Matthews Avenue, also in Villas, and discovered the stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee parked, with the engine still warm. The vehicle was impounded for evidentiary purposes.
After the vehicle was located and the victim was informed, officers continued to search for Harron and possible associates. A warrant was prepared for a fourth-degree theft complaint, charging Harron with unlawful taking of a means of conveyance. Judge Thomas Hillegass authorized the warrant at 3:15 a.m., May 7. As of 11 a.m., May 7, Harron has not been arrested.
The investigation was conducted by Patrolman Louis Bartleson of the Lower Township Police Department, along with the assistance of Officers Eric Danze, Michael Harkin, Kenneth Walker, and Anthony Micciche.
The individual(s) listed is/are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
