Police Recover Handgun, Arrest One

VILLAS – Lower Township Police responded to the area of Bentz Avenue for a report of a man brandishing a handgun March 8 at approximately 5 p.m.
This information was reported by a motorist who was stopped by a Lower Township police officer just after the incident occurred.   
A subsequent investigation led to the execution of a court authorized search warrant of the residence located on Bentz Avenue.  
As a result a 9mm semi-automatic handgun was seized.
Jeffrey D. Larsen, 40, of Villas, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a fourth degree offense, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a second degree offense, and certain persons not to possess weapons, a second degree offense. Larsen was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in default of $150,000, no 10 percent bail. 
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
