NORTH CAPE MAY — During Monday and Tuesday (Dec. 14-15) evenings, approximately 40 more vehicles were ransacked in Lower Township’s North Cape May and Mickel’s Run neighborhoods.
Last week approximately 30 vehicles were entered in the North Cape May Section of Lower Township.
Suspects are entering unlocked vehicles and removing cell phones, Ipods, Radar Detectors, Loose Change and Cash. In one incident on Monday evening, 12-14 or 12-15, a 5th Wheel RV Travel Trailer, located in the 100 block of Hemlock Road, was entered and a loaded .357 Magnum Revolver with two loaded Speed Loaders, for a total of 18 rounds of ammunition, was reported stolen from the RV Trailer.
Lower Township Police Chief, Edward Donohue, stated that his officers are aggressively investigating these car burglaries and have stepped up patrols in neighborhoods and motor vehicle stops of suspicious vehicles.
Chief Donohue stated that during the last several evenings, Lower Township Patrol Officers have made numerous car stops and arrested a total of five (5) subjects on outstanding Bench Warrants as a result of those car stops.
Once again the Lower Township Police Department is urging residents to lock their vehicles before entering their homes.
