RIO GRANDE — At approximately 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve, a 24-year-old female had her pursue snatched in the parking lot of a pharmacy here.
Rachel Zheng told police she was in the parking lot of Walgreens Pharmacy on Route 9 when she was confronted by the suspect, later identified as Daniel A. Crenshaw, of Cochran Street in Whitesboro.
Crenshaw allegedly tried to pull the Zheng’s pocketbook away but she held on. Crenshaw then pushed Zheng to the ground and the pocketbook broke free. Crenshaw fled the scene in a vehicle, while the victim went inside and called for help. The staff at Walgreens called police and rendered aid to Zheng who was shaken up but uninjured during the incident.
On Christmas night, Middle Township Patrolman Joshua Bryan spotted Crenshaw and a second subject, Virgil McNeil, of Burleigh, parked at a local convenience store in Court House. McNeil and Crenshaw were then taken into custody without incident. Found in their possession at the time were credit cards and a cell phone that belonged to the victim.
Crenshaw was placed in the county jail on charges of 2nd-degree robbery and 3rd-degree theft. Municipal Court Judge Peter Tourison set his bail at $25,000 cash.
McNeil was charged with fraudulent use of a stolen credit card. He was released on a summons.
