ERMA — On Monday, March 16, Lower Township police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a burglary from the Cape May National Golf Course, 834 Florence Ave.
The caller reported a suspect taking money from the pro shop cash register. This call came in at approximately 8:08 pm.
Cape May National owner Rober Mullock was inside the pro shop in an office and attempted to give chase, but was unable to catch the suspect. Mullock described the suspect and noted that approximately $1,000 was missing from the register over the past several weeks. He believed someone could have been entering the pro shop after hours.
Following an investigation, police arrested Robert Obermeier, of the Townbank Manor Apartments, in the 600 Block of Townbank Road, North Cape May. He was wanted on a warrant out of Middle Township Municipal Court.
During Obermeier’s arrest, evidence pertaining to the burglary was located. He was charged with burglary and theft and lodged in county jail on $15,000 bail set by Judge David DeWeese.
The investigation was conducted by Detectives Art Mason, Edward Dougherty, Chris Lambert and Mel Hedum.
Lower Township – Who are these people that are obvious experts on trash cans and leaf pick-up? Maybe they don't have any trash to put out or leaves in their yard!!
