OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Police Department received three reports of counterfeit money being passed to merchants on the Boardwalk between 1:45 p.m. and 3:19 p.m. July 7.
The reports all involved a white male attempting to use counterfeit fifty dollar bills. The first incident occurred in the 1000 block of the Boardwalk. The next two incidents occurred in the 600 block of the Boardwalk. Based on the timely information the police were receiving, an immediate notification was issued to all boardwalk and downtown merchants.
The above photos are of a person of interest. The male in the photos was in the vicinity during all three incidents and fits the description of the person involved with the counterfeit attempts. Accompanying him appears to be a middle aged female, juvenile female, and a disabled juvenile in a wheel chair. The male suspect also appears to have tattoos on both arms, facial hair, and a distinctive hair cut in the back. Anyone recognizing the person in the photo should contact the Ocean City Police Department at (609)399-9111. Any merchant that suspects they have received counterfeit money should report the incident immediately to the police department.
