By Press Release

VILLAS – Officers from the Lower Township Police Department responded to the first block East Delaware Parkway in Villas for a reported car fire Nov. 2 at approximately 1:30 a.m. Villas Fire Department, members from the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office and police detectives also responded to investigate the incident. The fire destroyed the entire interior of the vehicle, according to a release.
The on-scene investigation revealed that a Molotov cocktail was thrown into the 2014 Hyundai Accent, which was parked on the North side of East Delaware Parkway. The vehicle owners told detectives they were awake, heard a noise out front and when they looked outside, they saw the vehicle in flames. A witness informed investigators that two or three juveniles were seen fleeing the area, just as the fire started, running East on Delaware Parkway.
The investigation also revealed a “Turkey Hill” bottle containing gasoline, which was recovered from inside the vehicle. The bottle and other items are being processed as evidence. Police are also investigating where the bottle may have been purchased and by whom.
