DENNISVILLE – Woodbine Station Troopers investigated a domestic violence case in Dennis Township Dec. 10 at approximately 10 p.m.
During that incident, Patrick Boland, 28, who was reported to be highly intoxicated and combative with his parents, allegedly broke a portion of his parent’s fence.
He was subsequently placed under arrest by troopers who arrived at the scene. He was transported to the Woodbine barracks where he was charged with criminal mischief. No temporary restraining order was obtained against their son at that time.
After processing, troopers transported Boland to a friend’s house in Middle Township where he stated he would spend the remainder of the evening.
A short time later, at approximately 2 a.m., a 911 call came in from the Boland residence and it was reported that Patrick Boland was back at their house and was in the process of kicking down their locked bedroom door. Mr. and Mrs. Boland were reportedly in fear for their lives.
While en route, it was learned that the father, William Boland, 55, fearing for his and his wife’s life, shot his son Patrick Boland in the hip. Patrick Boland was flown to the Atlantic City Medical Center. Investigation revealed that Patrick Boland made multiple threats that he was going to kill his parents. He is listed in stable condition.
Further interviews were done and it was learned that Patrick Boland made multiple threats to kill them while he was kicking down their locked bedroom door. Both parents stated that they pleaded with Patrick Boland to stop before anything bad happened.
After consulting with the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, it was concluded that no charges would be filed at this time.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
