WILDWOOD – Members of the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division concluded a six-week investigation concerning the sales of narcotics from a residence in the 200 block of West Juniper Avenue located in the City of Wildwood. At approximately 7 p.m. Oct. 14, members of the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division detained an individual identified as John Balzer, 65, of Wildwood. During the field interview, Balzer was found to be in possession of distribution quantities of heroin and narcotics paraphernalia. The narcotics recovered in connection to the investigation were prepackaged for street level sales.
Immediately following the arrest of Balzer, a court authorized search warrant was executed at the residence. As a result of the execution of the search warrant, additional evidence connected to the illicit street level sales of narcotics were recovered, specifically narcotics packaging material and hypodermic syringes.
It should be noted that this investigation was a collaborative effort from the community, and several concerned citizen sources were critical in providing relevant and updated information leading to the arrest of the defendant and the seizure of narcotics, which were ultimately earmarked for those individuals addicted to the opiate-based narcotics which are inundating and overwhelming our communities.
As a result of the investigation, Balzer was charged with the following criminal offenses: possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute within 500′ of certain public property, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute within 1000′ of school property, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic syringes.
