RIO GRANDE – Middle Township Police Officers arrested two men for allegedly firing a shotgun out of a car window at another vehicle during a chase from Wildwood to Rio Grande May 24, officials told Shore News Today May 25.
Michael Harmer, 25, and Zachary Hand, 23, both of Salem, N.J., were charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and conspiracy after they chased and fired a shotgun at least once at people fleeing a restaurant, Middle Township Police Capt. John Edwards told Shore News Today.
Edwards told Shore News Today that the argument originated at McDonald’s in Wildwood.
“The driver brandished a shotgun, but it was the passenger who fired at least one shot,” stated Edwards.
Edwards told Shore News Today that the people fleeing in the car were the ones who called police, and that Middle Township police stopped Harmer’s vehicle in Rio Grande May 24 at about 3:20 a.m.
There were no injuries.
According to Shore News Today, both Harmer and Hand are currently lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center with bail set at $100,000.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
