Police Charge Ocean City Teen with Theft, Burglary

By Herald Staff

OCEAN CITY — On April 29 at approximately 11:50 p.m., Ocean City police received a call that a resident was chasing a suspect that had just entered his parked vehicle on Arkansas Avenue.
It was reported that a cell phone and sunglasses were taken from the vehicle.
A description of the suspect was provided by the victim and broadcast to all officers. Officers set up a perimeter, began a search and eventually found the suspect running into the recreation fields in the 1900 block of Bay Avenue, where he was apprehended.
Arrested was Cassidhe T. Kemp-Cowell, 18, of Ocean City. Cowell was processed and released on a summons on burglary, theft and underage alcohol possession.
The investigation was conducted by Sgt. Brian Trostle and Patrolmen Bob Koob, Jeff Doto and Matt Schaffer.
“This is not the first time that this resident has assisted the Police Department which also resulted in a similar apprehension. Ironically, our crime prevention tip of the month that has been broadcast on Channel 2 is; Neighbors are encouraged to take “Ownership” in their respective neighborhoods. They should report all suspicious activity to the police immediately. Citizens play a vital role in the success of police work and their ability to prevent and to solve crimes. This is exactly what this resident did and he should be commended for his efforts, maybe he should think about switching careers,” said Chief Callahan.
