Police Charge Man with Assault, Weapons Offences in Domestic Dispute

MAYVILLE — On Wednesday, May 13 at approximately 7:25 p.m., Middle Township police received a “911” call from a victim, who said they were assaulted by Anthony Debona in a domestic dispute.
Police arrived at the scene on East Shellbay Avenue and observed Debona, with minor self-inflicted wounds from a large kitchen knife that he falsely reported to police, were caused by an assault by the victim.
Debona was treated for his injuries by the Rio Grande Rescue Squad, and released from their care.
Debona was charged with simple assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, false reports to law enforcement, and tampering with evidence.
He was placed in county jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail set by Judge David DeWeese, who also issued a temporary restraining order prohibiting any contact with the victim by Debona.
