Police Charge Court House Man With Two Counts of Luring

WILDWOOD – A countywide search plan was initiated after a man allegedly attempted to abduct two women in two separate incidents.
On May 13t at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniformed Patrol Division and the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division conducted an investigation into a report of man attempting to pull a woman into a motor vehicle.
This incident occurred in the 100 block of East Burk Avenue in Wildwood at approximately 1:30 p.m. A male perpetrator, after initially speaking with the victim, physically grabbed her and attempted to drag her into his vehicle.
The victim, who is a nineteen year-old tourist from the Ukraine, was able to free herself from the perpetrator, and fled from the scene on foot with a female friend.
While this incident was being investigated, members of the Wildwood Police Department Uniformed Patrol Division and Wildwood Police Department Detective Division responded at approximately 3:00 p.m. to a similar incident that occurred in the 100 block of East Taylor Avenue in the City of Wild.wood.
In the second incident a male had criminal sexual contact with a female victim, and then grabbed her by the arms and pulled her towards his vehicle.
A female friend of the victim yelled for help, and as another person arrived on the scene to assist the victim, the perpetrator fled the scene in his vehicle.
The female victim in the second incident was a twenty-one year old tourist from Bulgaria.
The description given by the witnesses of the perpetrator in both incidents was consistent, and a description of the vehicle the perpetrator was driving was obtained, that being a blue mid-size pickup truck having wooden side rails, displaying a New Jersey registration plate with grass cuttings in the bed of the truck and having A-1 on the door.
The Cape May County Search Plan was activated. at 3:35 P.M. on May 13 with a description of the suspect and his vehicle given out.
When there was no contact made with the suspect or the vehicle by 5:00 p.m. the search plan was deactivated.
Following up on a lead about the vehicle, members of the Wildwood Police Department and Middle Township Police Department located a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle in Cape May Court House.
This led to the subsequent arrest of Arashdeep Gill, a 22 year-old self employed lawn service worker who resides in Cape May Court House.
Mr. Gill was positively identified as being the perpetrator of both incidents.
Mr. Gill was charged with two counts of luring, a crime of the third degree, and one count of criminal sexual contact, a crime of the fourth degree. The Honorable Judge David DeWeese set bail for Mr. Gill at $35,000 cash or bond no ten percent with a condition of release being no contact with the victims.
Mr. Gill could not post the required bail and was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center,
