Police Arrest Two on Drug Related Charges

WILDWOOD – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Wildwood Police Chief Steve Long announce the arrest of two local residents of Wildwood for possession and distribution of controlled dangerous substances (CDS) Aug. 1.
The arrest is the result of a joint narcotics investigation conducted by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force and members of the Wildwood Police Department, which was initiated as a result of several tips reported anonymously through the Cape May County Sheriffs Tip Line at cmcsheriff.net.
As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 3600 block of Pacific Avenue in Wildwood, which led to the seizure of heroin, marijuana and money seized as proceeds from the illegal sale of CDS.
Edward Arroyo, 30, was arrested by members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and the Wildwood Police Department and charged with possession of heroin, a crime of the third degree, distribution of heroin, a crime of the third degree, distribution of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school zone, a crime of the third degree, distribution of heroin within 500 feet of a public place, a crime of the second degree and possession of marijuana, a disorderly persons offense. Arroyo was committed to the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
Miguel Natal-Colon, 22, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, a disorderly persons offense and released on a summons complaint.
Prosecutor Taylor advises that persons convicted of a second degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison; persons convicted of a third degree crime are subject to a term of imprisonment of 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison. Prosecutor Taylor commended the tipsters for being vigilant in providing valuable information and their observations, which helped members of the Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and Wildwood Police Department initiate their investigation and successfully target these individuals arrested and charged with various CDS in this case. Prosecutor Taylor further stated that his office will continue to work hand in hand with each municipality in the County to target these drug distributors selling illegal controlled dangerous substances. Prosecutor Taylor continues to urge the citizens of Cape May County to report any information regarding illegal drug activity and or any criminal activity within community and that this information can be reported anonymously through the Cape May County Sheriffs Tip Line at cmcsheriff.net and click on anonymous tip, or through the Cape May County Crime Stoppers at 609-465-2800 or 877-465-2801, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office at 609-465-1168.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
