By Press Release

NORTH CAPE MAY – Officers with the Lower Township Police Department investigated two suspicious persons seated in a vehicle at a North Cape May convenience store July 27.
Upon approaching the vehicle to speak with the subjects, Patrolman Jennifer Anzelone and Special Officer Thomas Ritterhoff immediately detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from within. Further investigation revealed the two occupants, Nicholas Mazzotta, 19, residing in the 400 block of Cherry Tree Lane, Green Creek and Jocelyn Shillingford, 19, residing on the first block of Ibis Place, North Cape May were in possession of marijuana, which was hidden in a modified soda can located in their possession, and several other items of drug paraphernalia.
Both Mazzotta and Shillingford were arrested on scene and transported to the Lower Township Police Department where they were each processed and released on a summons charging them with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
