Police Arrest Three Adults, Two Juveniles for Alleged Involvement in Series of Robberies

WILDWOOD – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Wildwood Police Chief Steven Long announce the arrest of three adult males and two juvenile males for a series of robberies that occurred in the City of Wildwood July 19 and July 20.
On July 19, a male and a female were leaving a convenience store in Wildwood when they were approached by two males who produced a handgun demanding cash. The victims were subsequently taken to a secluded area where they were robbed of their belongings and the female was sexually assaulted as a gun was held to the male’s head.
On August 13, after an intensive three week investigation by detectives from the Major Crimes Unit of the Prosecutor’s Office and detectives from the Wildwood Police Department, Dante Chislom, 18, of Wildwood, and Dwayne Moody, 20, of Wildwood, were arrested without incident. Both males were charged with robbery, a crime of the first degree, conspiracy to commit robbery, a crime of the second degree, aggravated sexual assault, a crime of the first degree, unlawful possession of a weapon, a crime of the third degree and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, a crime of the second degree.
On July 20, two separate robberies were reported to the Wildwood Police. Both robberies occurred just outside the Wildwood Housing Authority in the same time frame. During the first robbery, the two victims were approached by four individuals, two on foot and two on bikes, and a confrontation ensued. During this confrontation both of the victim’s belongings were stolen. During the second robbery, which occurred a short time after the first, the victims were once again approached by four individuals and a handgun was produced. The victims handed over their cellular phone and fled the scene.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Chislom, Mickiah Butler,18, of Wildwood and two juveniles were responsible for these robberies. On August 13, Chislom and Butler were arrested without incident and on August 14, the two juveniles were arrested. All four of these males were charged with two counts of robbery, a crime of the first degree, two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, a crime of the second degree, aggravated assault, a crime of the second degree and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, a crime of the second degree.
Chislom is being held on $350,000 bail. Moody is being held on $250,000 bail. Butler is being held on $200,000 bail.
The arrest of these five individuals was the culmination of a multi-jurisdictional investigation which included the Major Crimes Unit of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and Detectives from the City of Wildwood Police Department.
Prosecutor Taylor and Chief Long recognize the efforts of all the individuals involved resulting in the successful conclusion of this investigation.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
