By Press Release

VILLAS – Police responded to an address on East St. John’s Ave. in the Villas section of Lower Township for a reported burglary of a residence Aug. 7.
Inside the residence, Patrolman Matt Gamble and Special Officer Robert Martinelli observed damage to the family’s television, ceiling fan and walls. During the investigation, information was obtained identifying the suspect as James “Jake” W. Donnelly of Villas.
Based on the information obtained, Judge Thomas Hillegass issued a warrant charging Donnelly with the burglary. Several locations had been checked by the officers trying to apprehend Donnelly without success.
Patrolman Gamble and Special Officer Martinelli responded to a motel located in the 1400 block of Bayshore Rd. in Villas Aug. 11. Donnelly was located hiding in a bathroom of one of the rooms and taken into custody. When he was taken into custody, Donnelly was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), believed to be marijuana. Donnelly was charged on a separate complaint summons for the CDS offense.
Judge Thomas Hillegass set the bail for the burglary warrant at $20,000, full. Donnelly was detained at the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of bail.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
