STONE HARBOR — A borough man was arrested by local police after a Sat., Aug. 21 alleged incident of domestic violence.
According to Stone Harbor police, at 5:56 p.m., a 9-1-1 call was received that reported a domestic violence incident in which the actor, identified as Elmer J. Tate, 45, left the scene.
Police investigated and learned that Tate was in possession of a butcher knife while the argued with the victim. When the victim allegedly said she was going to call police, Tate ripped the cord out of the phone, and a struggle took place. He then fled in his car.
Judge John Fowler authorized an arrest warrant for Tate for possession of a weapon. His bail was set at $1,500.
Lower Township Police were alerted and located Tate in Villas, and took him into custody.
He was later charged with possession of a weapon, simple assault and harassment. He was released after posting bail.
The case is pending review of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
