Police Arrest Man for Attempted Criminal Trespass, Disorderly Conduct

STONE HARBOR – Police were called to the area of 88th Street and Third Avenue at approximately 12:49 a.m. June 27 for a report of a man attempting to gain entry to a residence where he did not belong. The female victim called police advising that the man, identified as Christopher Moloney, 30, of Dublin, Ireland, was attempting to open her unlocked screen door in the rear of the residence. The female victim had to grab the door from the inside and struggle to keep it closed, while yelling at Moloney that he did not belong there.
Upon police arrival, Moloney had left the area and was located two blocks away by Officer Brent Grunow based on the description provided by the victim. After being positively identified by the victim, Moloney was placed under arrest. A warrant was sought and authorized by Stone Harbor Municipal Court Judge John Fowler with bail set at $2,500, full cash. Moloney was charged with attempted criminal trespass, a crime of the fourth degree. Moloney was additionally charged on a summons with disorderly conduct. He was released from custody after posting $2,500 cash bail.
The case has been forwarded to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
