VILLAS – Special Officer Michael Harkin of the Lower Township Police Department was in the area of the 300 block Cloverdale Avenue in Villas May 2 at approximately 8:27 p.m. He was investigating an incident, when he observed an unrelated disturbance a few houses away. Harkin immediately responded to the disturbance and was assisted shortly after by additional units from Lower Township Police Department.
During the ensuing investigation, it was learned that James Hall, 23, of Villas, had provided a 14-year-old child with access to a controlled dangerous substance (CDS).
As the investigation developed, the Police Department Detective Bureau became involved and applied for a court-authorized search warrant, which was executed at Hall’s residence on Cloverdale Avenue. The search was for evidence of child endangerment offenses committed by Hall, against the 14-year-old child.
The search of the residence resulted in the arrest of Hall for narcotics offenses as well as child endangerment. Hall was taken into custody and transported to the Lower Township Police Department for processing and at the time of his arrest, he was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Hall was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, third degree, distribution of marijuana, fourth degree, and possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia, both disorderly persons offenses.
At the conclusion of processing, Hall was released on his own recognizance, pending a court date.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
