LOWER TOWNSHIP POLICE RELEASE:
VILLAS — On Friday, Sept. 11 at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Lower Township’s Detec-tive Division completed an ongoing drug investigation with the arrest of Francis Leszcynski, 70, of the 400 block of Jacksonville Avenue.
According to a release, detectives received information that Leszcynski was proceeding to a North Cape May Shopping Center operating a 2006 Ford Ranger pick up truck in order to distribute a substantial amount of Heroin.
Detectives had Leszcynski’s vehicle under surveillance as he entered the shopping center parking lot.
Detectives then approached Leszcynski and after a field inquiry, Leszcynski voluntarily surrendered two bundles or 24 packets of Heroin that he was carrying on his person at the time.
After Leszcynski was arrested at the scene, he advised Detectives that there were a few more bundles of Heroin at his residence.
Leszcynski then signed a Consent to Search form for his residence and detectives accompanied him into his residence to retrieve the additional Heroin.
However, while Leszcynski was opening a dresser drawer to retrieve several more bundles of Heroin, detectives observed a large amount of cash inside the dresser drawer.
At this point detectives applied for and were granted a Search Warrant for Leszcynski’s residence and his motor vehicle before continuing to search further.
Detectives also asked for assistance from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Guns/Gangs and Drugs Task Force.
Following the search of Leszcynski’s residence and motor vehicle, detectives seized a total of 104 bags of suspected Heroin and over $30,000 in cash.
Lower Township Detectives also seized Leszcynski’s Ford Ranger pick up truck which was used to transport the Heroin.
Over the course of the last few weeks, Lower Township Police Department has seized and removed over 140 bags of Heroin from the streets of Lower Township.
Lower Township Police Chief, Edward Donohue stated, “Our continuing law enforcement actions should send a clear message to drug dealers operating in Lower Township.”
“DON’T.”

(both being 3rd degree crimes)
