Police Allege Couple Swiped Bags from Donation Bin

James Osborn and Jessica Osborn.

By

VILLAS – A Cape May County couple has been charged with stealing bags of items that were donated to help members of the military, according to a post on New Jersey State Police’s Facebook page.
James Osborn, 29, and Jessica Osborn, 27, both of Tuckahoe, allegedly stole numerous donated items from a military veteran’s donation bin on Aug. 9 in Lower Township.

Among the items recovered during the investigation were pieces of jewelry worth more than $2,000. James Osborn allegedly sold the jewelry to an area pawn shop for $1,250. The couple was charged with theft and theft-related offenses as a result of the investigation.
Detectives suspect it is possible the jewelry was not placed in a bag and donated, which is what James Osborn maintains.
Police say one piece of the stolen jewelry has “Marie and Tom 6-3-57” engraved on it, and another piece has the date, “4-17-69.”
Police are seeking the owner of the jewelry and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Mario Nocito of Woodbine Station at 609-861-5698. Anonymous tips are welcome.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
