WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Police and Rescue Squad were called to a home on Primrose Road for a reported drug overdose Sept. 26 at 1:39 p.m.
Upon arrival, Cpl. Jon Weigand found Shannon Beckman unconscious and unresponsive. Cpl. Weigand learned that Beckman allegedly ingested an unknown amount of heroin. The Narcan drug, used to reverse the effect of a heroin overdose, was administered by the Wildwood Crest Rescue Squad. Beckman regained consciousness and was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center.
Further investigation revealed that Beckman’s infant child was present when the heroin was allegedly ingested. In addition, evidence of drug paraphernalia was taken from the residence. Beckman was charged with one count of child endangerment and lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $25,000 bail. The child was unharmed and turned over to the father.
Beckman is expected to make a full recovery.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
