WILDWOOD – Officers from the Wildwood Police Department Uniformed Patrol Division initiated a motor vehicle stop Feb. 3 in the 200 East block Garfield Avenue. The traffic stop was conducted in connection to the driver failing to stop for a traffic-control device.
According to a release, during the developing investigation, a small quantity of marijuana was recovered, leading to the arrest of the driver, identified as Robert Matthews, 24, of Roxbury, Mass., and the passenger, identified as Diamond Lights, 23, of High Park, Mass.
As a result of a physical search of the vehicle, a loaded .9mm Smith & Wesson Semi-Automatic pistol was seized. During the investigation, it was determined that the pistol magazine contained multiple rounds of ammunition, including one prohibited hollow point round of ammunition.
As a result of the investigation, Matthews was charged with possession of marijuana, disorderly persons offense, unlawful possession of a handgun, second degree, and possession of prohibited ammunition, fourth degree.
Lights was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, second degree, and possession of prohibited ammunition, fourth degree.
Matthews and Lights were issued their individual criminal charges and released on summonses complaints, in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines.
The individual(s) listed is/are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
