STONE HARBOR — It’s likely one young Pennsylvanian will seek a restroom next time he must answer nature’s call, and not relieve himself in a parking lot.
According to Stone Harbor Police, on Fri., July 15 at 3:33 a.m., Patrolman Workman saw a man, later identified as Kyle M. Shaffer, 20, of Indiana, Pa., standing in the Wawa parking lot, 9400 Third Avenue, facing Third Avenue, urinating.
When the officer asked Shaffer for identification, he offered a credit card then fled up the stairs of Wawa.
He was apprehended near the store’s front door, but a scuffle took place, and Workman had to wrestle Shaffer to the ground. Police said he continued to resist arrest, and was subdued with pepper spray.
Shaffer was taken into custody with assistance of other officers, none of whom was injured in the incident.
Shaffer was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, obstruction, hindering apprehension and urinating in public.
After being transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for minor injuries, and being treated and released, Shaffer was remanded to county jail in lieu of $10,000 bail set by Municipal Court Judge John Fowler.
