Parked BMW Leads to Arrest, Burglary Charge

WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Police were called to an address on Cresse Avenue Feb. 14 for a report of a burglary not in progress. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who said they found their front door forced open.

Evidence recovered at the scene led to a possible person of interest operating a 2000 BMW with New Jersey registration. Wildwood Crest Patrol Division located the vehicle at a closed motel and the suspect, Christopher Nicholas, 42, of Albany, N.Y., in the same area. After further investigation by the Detective Division, Nicholas was arrested. He was charged with burglary and criminal mischief on a warrant. He was lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Wildwood Crest Police urge residents to keep their residence and vehicles locked and secure and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
