NORTH CAPE MAY — On Feb. 16 at approximately 12:40 p.m., Scott Ridgeway, an off-duty county sheriff’s officer, in the area of Holmes Avenue here observed a white female handing a silver and black automatic nine-millimeter type handgun to a black male standing by her vehicle.
According to police, the male then placed the handgun in the small of his back concealed under his shirt.
After calling Lower Township police, Ridgeway recovered the weapon then held the male and female at the location.
Police arrived on scene and arrested Ashley Tracy, 20, of East Pacific Avenue, Villas, and Jonathan Foye, 20, of the 500 Block of North Wildwood Boulevard, Burleigh. for possession of a handgun.
The handgun which resembled a nine-millimeter automatic type weapon was later determined to be a high powered bb type air gun. The weapon was confiscated and placed into evidence.
Tracy and Foye were both lodged in county jail on the weapons offense.
