Odd Call of the Week to Lower Cops: Car Hits Flying Turkey

ERMA — On March 24, a 9-1-1 call to Lower Township police reported a car hit a flying turkey. It was the oddest call received from March 23-29, when police handled 739 calls for an average of over 105 calls per day.
March 23:
Report of a burglary at 1:34 p.m. to a summer house on Schellenger Avenue, Villas. No items were taken, investigation continues.
Report of a warrant arrest at 5:15 p.m. at Bayshore Road and Spruce Avenue, Villas; bail was posted and subject released.
Report of an assault at 5:42 p.m. at Mulligan Field, Villas with several juveniles, and no injuries reported. When police arrived the altercation dispersed.
March 24:
Report of someone driving while intoxicated at 4:43 a.m. on Bayshore Road, Villas; subject was arrested and charged with DWI.
Report of a fraud at 5:03 p.m. of a credit card that was used at numerous stores in Lower Township. After this investigation, two arrests were made.
Report of someone driving while intoxicated at 3:30 a.m. at Bayshore Road and Bay Avenue, Villas. Police were alerted after the driver failed to pay for gas at the Wawa Store.
Report of a 9-1-1 call on the Garden State Parkway at 1:02 p.m. of a traffic incident where a vehicle struck a turkey in flight.
Report of two shoplifters at 6:54 p.m. in the 1500 block of Bayshore Road, Villas. Both were taken into custody for the theft of items, charges were filed.
March 25:
Report of a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 in Erma resulted in a warrant arrest of one subject, bail posted and subject released.
Report of a burglary at 2:53 a.m. on Tampa Avenue, Villas to a garage, investigation continues.
Report of someone driving while intoxicated received at 3:54 a.m. at Holiday and Vacation Road, Villas. One subject was arrested for DWI.
Report of criminal mischief at 8:16 a.m. on Seashore Road, Erma of slashed tires during the night, investigation continues.
Report of a theft from a motor vehicle at 8:59 a.m. on Brookdale Road, North Cape May. Investigation continues.
Report of fraudulent credit card use at 9:36 a.m. at the Bayshore Mall, North Cape May resulting in approximately $3,000 in items bought. During the investigation an arrest was made and property recovered.
March 26:
Report of criminal mischief at 6:23 p.m. on Seashore Road, Cold Spring to the Little League concession stand, investigation continues.
Report of a narcotics sale at 7:48 p.m. on Bayshore Road, Villas involving a vehicle selling heroin. Investigation continues.
Warrant arrest at 9:23 p.m. on Townbank Road, North Cape May which resulted in one subject being arrested and bail posted.
March 27,:
Report received of a motor vehicle accident at 1:06 p.m. on Beachhurst Drive, North Cape May.
Narcotics arrest made at 9:10 p.m. on Route 9, Cold Spring following a motor vehicle stop.
Report of a motor vehicle accident at 10:58 p.m. on Bayshore Road, North Cape May. Subject was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Report of criminal mischief at 11:15 p.m. at Channel Apartments, North Cape May. Five to six persons reported to be tampering with vehicles.
March 28:
Report received of a theft at 12:04 p.m. on St. Johns Avenue, Villas, investigation continues.
Report received of a theft at 2:20 pm on Ridgewood Avenue, Villas, investigation continues.
Report received of a vehicle being damaged at 2:58 p.m. on Cliffside Road, Town Bank.
Report of received of domestic violence at 4:09 p.m. on Bayshore Road, Villas. Rights were given and no charges or temporary restraining order requested.
March 29:
Report received of a theft at 7:55 a.mm on Seashore Road, Erma, investigation continues.
Report received of criminal mischief to golf course at 9:25 a.m. on Florence Road, Erma. Damage was estimated at $3,000.
Motor vehicle stop at 11:01 a.m. on Townbank Road, North Cape May resulted in a warrant arrest and bail posted.
Report received of a theft at 1:45 p.mm on Greenwood Avenue, Villas, investigation continues.
Report received of a motor vehicle accident at 1:53 p.m. on Bayshore Road, Villas, investigation continues.
Report received of criminal mischief at 2:09 p.m. on Vermont Avenue, Villas, investigation continues.
Report received of a theft at 5:39 p.m. on Sheridan Drive, Erma, investigation continues.
Report received of an assault occurred at 7:27 p.m. on Bayshore Road, Villas involving a group of people, investigation continues.
