Ocean View Man Surrenders After Hitting Trooper With Truck

WOODBINE– Belleplain Emergency Corps and Atlanticare Paramedics were dispatched to Sumner Avenue at 10:13 p.m. on Saturday, Jan 2, for a reported state trooper down.
Trooper Brian Marsh was on a car stop attempting to arrest the driver identified as Jeffrey May, 28 of Ocean View when May allegedly resisted arrest, according to Detective Polite. The reason for the stop and arrest are unclear at this time, Polite said.
May got back into his 2001 blue Ford F-250 pick-up truck and struck the trooper while fleeing the scene.
The trooper was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center with non-life threating injuries by Belleplain Emergency Corps, Polite said.
State Police crime scene detectives were called to the scene to investigate.
May, turned himself in to state police late Saturday night. May was charged with Aggravated Assault on a police officer and lodged in the Cape May County jail.
