OCEAN CITY — On June 11, 2009 at 8:00am the Ocean City Police received a report of criminal mischief at the Ocean City High School.
The investigation revealed that unknown persons had placed approximately 75 garden decorations (gnomes) in the landscape surrounding the high school building.
A review of the school surveillance footage showed that at approximately 3- 4AM on this date several subjects are seen placing the items around the school.
It appears that at least 5 – 6 persons are involved. There was no damage done to the school but all of the items are believed to have been stolen over the past several months.
At this time the incident is being investigated by the school administration and the police department. Any possible criminal charges are pending the outcome of the investigation and contact with any victims.
The Ocean City Police Department advises anyone that had a “gnome” taken should report it to their local jurisdiction. Once a report has been filed please contact the Ocean City Police Department so that you may view and recover the “gnomes”. You must have your police report to make recovery.
