Ocean City Stabbing Leads to Assault Charges

OCEAN CITY — Police here responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 300 block of West Avenue on Aug. 29 at about 4 a.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed blood outside the residence and began an investigation, which led to locating the victim several blocks away in the 600 block of Haven Avenue.
The victim indicated that he was stabbed in the hand with a knife and struck several times with a baseball bat. The victim fled by jumping from a second floor porch and was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, for broken bones and lacerations received during the attack and fall from the porch.
Investigation led to the arrest of Narciso S. Gerardo on aggravated assault and weapons charges. Gerardo, 35, of Ocean City, was lodged in county jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. Also arrested was Andres Vazquez, 24, of Ocean City, on hindering apprehension charges.
The investigation was conducted by Patrolman Keith Johnson, Sgt. John Mazzuca and Detective Mark Pancoast.
