OCEAN CITY — During the week Oct. 26-Nov. 1, the Ocean City Police Department responded to 703 calls for service, an average of 100 per day.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENTS:
• The Ocean City Police Department is now actively running Traffic safety Awareness Patrols daily. Violations that are targeted will include; Cell Phones, Seat Belts, Crosswalks, School Zones, Bike Route, Speeding and Parking violations. During the first week of this program over 60 motor vehicle summonses and 25 warnings have been issued for various violations.
• The Police Department is taking an active roll in policing the areas around the Schools during the drop off and pick up times. Parents are reminded that they are not allowed to double park, all crosswalks should be used and no drop offs are allowed along Bay Ave., in front of the Intermediate School.
• The Ocean City Police Dept. is working toward making your neighborhood and great place to live. If you have a quality of life issue that you want addressed by the police please contact us immediately so that we may help you resolve the problem.
• The Police Department assisted with Traffic Control and Participant Safety during the annual Halloween Parade and Trail of Two Cities Bridge Run this past week
• Ptl. Jon Vogt has been named the K-9 Officer for the new Unit being developed within the police department. Ptl. Vogt not only had to go through an interview process but also a rigorous physical trial. The K-9 dog should be selected by mid-November. Currently the Primary School students are in the process of having a naming of the K-9 dog contest. The name will be selected on Nov. 14, 2008.
