PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENTS:
• The Ocean City Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is now actively running Aggressive Driving Patrols daily. This information is being broadcast on local radio stations about areas in the city that are targeted for enforcement. Please be advised that this is a zero tolerance program. Areas of concern include; pedestrian safety and crosswalks, cell phones, seat belts, speeding and road rage incidents. Since this program was started in June 2008 approximately 1700 summonses have been issued for violations targeted by the Aggressive Driving Detail.
• The Ocean City Police Department assisted with the 99th Annual Baby Parade on the Boardwalk, August 14, 2008, as usual this event was a success for all those involved.
• This week August 18 – 22, 2008 the Ocean City Police Department is holding the first ever Junior Police Academy. This is a 5 day event that teaches young adults many aspects of police work and police training. This event is being held in cooperation with the Ocean City Recreation Department and Community Policing Unit.
