PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENTS:
• The Ocean City Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is now actively running Aggressive Driving Patrols daily. This information is being broadcast on local radio stations about areas in the city that are targeted for enforcement. Please be advised that this is a zero tolerance program. Areas of concern include; pedestrian safety and crosswalks, cell phones, seat belts, speeding and road rage incidents
• The Ocean City Police Department handled 54 complaints of illegal fireworks displays over the 4th of July holiday weekend
• The Ocean City Police Department, Traffic Safety Unit and Community Policing Unit assisted with bicycle parades in the South End and North End for the Fourth of July Holiday. The Officers were able to reach out to over 2000 children that participated
• The Office of Emergency Management published a Hurricane Awareness magazine in cooperation with the Ocean City Free Public Library. This publication was available in the Atlantic City Press on July 4, 2008
• On the Fourth of July Holiday every available police officer in the department was assigned to work a portion of the day’s events. This included 58 full time officers and 45 seasonal officers
• On July 15th the State Highway Safety Department will be hosting a festive inauguration of the new Bicycle Route along Haven Ave. everyone is welcome to attend and join the Ocean City Police Department for a ride along the bike path
