OCEAN CITY — On June 20, 2010 at 10:54am, the Ocean City Police responded to a car burglary in progress in the 900 block of Seacliff Road.
Upon arriving the officers were met by the Victim and the Suspect. Information received indicated that the Suspect was seen attempting to enter one on the Victim’s vehicles that was located in his driveway.
As the officers conducted their investigation it was discovered that the Suspect was in possession of personal items that were taken out of the Victim’s vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the Suspect was in possession of other items including GPS units that were also believed stolen from vehicles in the north end of Ocean City.
Arrested, by Ptl. Dan Ballard, at the scene for the above incident was Theodore Demski, age 25, of Morton, Pennsylvania. Demski was placed on an warrant issued by Judge Neidig, JMC, in the amount of $50,000 full cash bail.
The Ocean City Police did receive two other reports of car burglaries in the north end; one on Ocean Rd., and the other on Simpson Rd., that are still under investigation.
The property recovered from the Suspect does not match the reported car burglaries.
The Ocean City Police are seeking information on any persons in the north end that believe their vehicle may have been entered on June 20, 2010.
On June 19, 2010 the Ocean City Police also received reports of six car burglaries between 36th St. and 38th St. along Asbury Avenue. These incidents are still under investigation and are not believed to be related to the incidents on June 20, 2010.
Persons are reminded that they should not leave valuable items inside of heir vehicles. Vehicles should remain locked at all times and alarm systems activated. If you must leave something of value in the car then it should be placed in the trunk or area that is not visible from the outside. All of the reported cases involved vehicles that were unlocked at the time of the thefts.
