Ocean City Police Charge Pa. Man with Having Stolen Vehicle

By Herald Staff

OCEAN CITY — Ocean City police were engaged in an ongoing Aggressive Driving Enforcement detail on Route 52 causeway about 11:11 a.m., when a sport-utility vehicle was spotted eastbound at a high rate of speed.
Patrolman Tabor radioed for the vehicle to be stopped. Patrolman Ruf made contact with the vehicle on Route 52 and conducted a motor vehicle stop at Revere Place and Bay Avenue here.
Ruf used a mobile data terminal in his patrol vehicle to run the Pennsylvania registration. That check did not match the vehicle Ruf had stopped.
Further investigation by use of the vehicle identification number revealed that the subject vehicle was reported stolen out of Egg Harbor City earlier that date.
Ruf and Lt. Campbell took Joseph A. Clark, the suspect, into custody at the scene.
Municipal Court Judge Richard Russell issued a warrant for $10,000 bail. He was charged with receiving stolen property, speeding, failure to wear seatbelt, failure to exhibit driver’s license, failure to exhibit registration and fictitious license plants.
