OCEAN CITY — On Tues., Aug. 2, at 1:35 p.m., the Ocean City Police received a call for a burglary in progress at a home located on Bridge Boulevard. The caller reported that she found an unknown, white male in her home. When she confronted the suspect he fled out the door leaving a bicycle in the side yard. A description of the suspect and direction of flight were provided by the caller.
Several officers responded to the area of the burglary and set up a perimeter based on the information provided by the caller and the suspects last known direction of travel from the Bridge Boulevard home.
Officers then began to check properties in the area. The suspect was located hiding behind a property in the 200 block of Bay Road where he was taken into custody without incident.
The caller was able to positively identify the suspect apprehended as the person that was in her home. The investigation revealed that electronic equipment and jewelry items were missing from the home.
The suspect, Jack Nixon, was taken to police headquarters and was held on an arrest warrant. Nixon was later transported to the Cape May County Correctional Facility. He was charged with robbery, second degree. Bail was set at $50,000 full cash.
