Ocean City Police Apprehend Seven, Seek One in Rash of Burglaries

By Press Release

OCEAN CITY– The Ocean City Police Department has arrested four adults and three juveniles for several burglaries of occupied homes and vehicles throughout the city.
Over the course of three weeks in late June and early July the police department received five complaints of occupied homes being broken into during the night hours.
Taken in the burglaries were televisions, laptops, GPS units and personal items including a three thousand dollar wristwatch. Most of the reported burglaries were in the 14th St. to 18th St area along the Bay Avenue area. Homes entered were on Walton Pl., 14th St., 15th St., Prospect Pl. Wovern Pl. and the 1300 and 1700 block of Bay Avenue.
The Ocean City Detective Bureau was able to obtain information about the identity of suspects in the burglaries. A search of a property was conducted in the 900 block of Simpson Avenue. Several items from the reported burglaries were recovered at that location including the wristwatch.
Based on information received from persons arrested at the Simpson Avenue property a search warrant was then executed at the Ocean City Exxon Station at 9th St. & Bay Avenue.
Additional property from the burglaries was recovered at that location along with drug paraphernalia.
The police are still attempting to locate the owners of some of the recovered items.
The police have now been able to identify five additional homes that were burglarized in recent weeks based on the above property searches and interviews of the suspects. To date there are ten homes that were burglarized during the recent crime spree.
