BURLEIGH – Members of the Middle Township Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit were conducting surveillance Sept. 6 for a pending search warrant and witnessed a drug transaction take place on Georgia Avenue in Burleigh.
Members of the unit approached and arrested Jason Weaver, 39, of Brooklyn, N.Y. on the 1200 block Georgia Avenue in front of a motel. A search warrant was executed on Weaver and his motel room. As a result 79 white wax folds containing suspected heroin and approximately two grams of powder cocaine were found on his person. An amount of marijuana was located in the motel room.
Weaver was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana. Weaver was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $60,000 full cash bail. Weaver had also given a false name when arrested and was found to have a warrant for possession of a handgun out of New York. Weaver was additionally charged with hindering apprehension and being a fugitive from justice.
Alycha Rodriguez, 22, also of Brooklyn, N.Y., was in the room at the time of the search warrant execution. Rodriguez was charged with possession of marijuana and released on a summons.
