NORTH WILDWOOD – North Wildwood police investigated an attempted burglary at a residence on the 400 block E. 5th Avenue Jan. 29. Detectives were able to identify a suspect from surveillance video from the property and located him in the area of 4th and Surf avenues Jan. 30.
According to a release, the suspect in the attempted burglary, Peter Visalli, was also a suspect in a separate incident involving a forgery and theft case in North Wildwood from the beginning of January. Visalli was also wanted by the Chester County District Attorney’s Office and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on forgery related charges, the Burlington County Sheriff’s Office on larceny-related charges, the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office for a violation of a court order, and the Middle Township Municipal Court on warrants for obstruction and traffic charges.
Further investigation by detectives revealed that Visalli was squatting in an unoccupied residence on the 400 block Ocean Avenue. When Visalli was arrested, he was in possession of a metal spatula that was used as a tool to commit burglaries. Police said five burglaries, three attempted burglaries, and several thefts were committed by Visalli, all at unoccupied properties.
Visalli, 35, last known to be residing in Somers Point, was charged with burglary, theft, attempted burglary, possession of burglar tools, as well as forgery.
