New Year’s Eve Stop Nets Triple Arrests

WILDWOOD – Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division initiated a motor vehicle stop in the 4600 block of Burk Avenue, Dec. 31. During contact with the occupants, the rear seat passenger was removed for safety reasons, according to a release.
The individual was identified as Malick Philippe, 24, of Jamaica, N.Y. Once outside, Philippe initiated a foot escape, however was apprehended and placed under arrest a short distance from the initial motor vehicle stop. 
During the developing investigation, Philippe was allegedly found to be in possession of 400 individual folds of heroin, one Walther PPK/S .38-caliber pistol with a full magazine of ammunition and U.S. currency, which was identified as proceeds of the illicit sales of narcotics. 
The heroin seized was prepackaged for street-level sales/distribution and had an estimated street value of about $4,000.
As the investigation proceeded the vehicle’s driver, Patricia A. Gregory, 47, of Del Haven was allegedly found to be operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs and was placed under arrest. 
A search of the vehicle resulted in seizure of additional scheduled prescription medication/narcotics, hypodermic syringes and narcotics paraphernalia. 
Additionally arrested in connection to the investigation was the front-seat passenger, Michael P. Kelly Jr., 22, of Del Haven.
As a result of the investigation, the criminal charges were filed against the individuals in connection to the possession and potential sales of illicit narcotics and weapons offenses: 
Philippe was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in connection to illicit narcotics sales, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, and possession of hypodermic syringes.
Bail was authorized by the Municipal Court Judge Dorothy Garrabrant at $120,000 full cash/bond no 10 percent all charges. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to Cape May County Correctional Center.
Gregory was charged with possession of Alprazolam a schedule 4 narcotic, possession of Acetaminophen/Codeine a multi-scheduled narcotic, possession of Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine a scheduled 2 narcotic, possession of Morphine Sulfate a schedule 2 narcotic, possession of cocaine, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic syringes. 
Gregory’s complaints were placed on criminal summons complaints and she was released pending a future court appearance. 
Kelly was charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic syringes. Kelly’s complaints were placed on a criminal summons complaint and he was released pending a future court appearance.   
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
