New App Helps Attorneys Keep in Touch with the Courts

By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – A free mobile app developed by the New Jersey Judiciary helps attorneys work more efficiently on the go, Chief Justice Stuart Rabner announced today.
The NJ Attorney app, available for Apple, Android and Windows mobile devices, makes information available from the Judiciary website in an easy to use mobile format. It provides convenient one-touch links to the content on njcourts.com that attorneys use most frequently.
“The NJAttorney app is designed to make life a little easier for busy attorneys,” said Chief Justice Rabner. “Now, even if they are out of the office for court, a deposition, or a client meeting, attorneys can take care of other business. For example, they can keep up with notices to the bar, get directions or contact information for their next court appearance, and check the court
rules and rules of evidence using a phone or other mobile device.”
The app is divided into four main services. Using the News & Resources icon, attorneys can access Judiciary news releases, Notices to the Bar, and Judiciary social media sites. They also can watch archived Supreme Court webcasts.
Attorneys can tap other icons to access directions, contact information, and announcements about unscheduled closings for the Supreme Court, the Appellate Division of Superior Court, the Tax Court, and each Superior Court location. Also available are the location, court hours, court leadership and contact information for each of the state’s 522 municipal courts.
A fourth icon includes information for administrative offices whose services attorneys use most often, including the clerk’s offices for the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Superior Court and Tax Court. Links to the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection and the Office of Attorney Ethics also are included. Directions and parking, unscheduled closings and contact information
are available for each location.
“The app was developed in-house, and we will continue to develop updates based on suggestions we receive from attorneys who use it,” said Chief Justice Rabner. “We want to make it as convenient and helpful as possible, so ideas are welcome.”
The attorney app is the second mobile app developed by the Judiciary. The NJ Juror app, released in 2013, offers jurors convenient access to information about their jury service, including directions, parking information, call-off messages and announcements, and contact information for local jury managers. A list of frequently asked questions and a link to the “You,
the Juror” introductory video that all jurors watch at the beginning of their jury service also are available.
First released for Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads, the jury app, like the attorney app, is now available for Windows and Android devices.
*NOTE: The app is named New Jersey Attorney for IPhones and New Jersey Judiciary Attorney for Androids.*
