COURT HOUSE – Two suspects charged in the homicide of Nicole Angstadt, 15, appeared separately in state Superior Court Feb. 23 to hear charges against them, according to a report in The Press of Atlantic City.
Derrick Powers, 23, and Charles Mosley, 33, both of Rio Grande, face charges of first degree murder, first degree murder during the course of a sexual assault, first degree conspiracy to commit murder, second degree conspiracy to desecrate a human body, third degree hindering apprehension, and third degree hindering apprehension of another, according to a release issued by the Prosecutor’s Office Feb. 19.
Powers was also charged with third degree endangering the welfare of a child and first degree robbery.
Mosley was additionally charged with second degree desecrating human remains and first degree aggravated sexual assault.
According to the report, Powers indicated through his attorney, Stephen Funk, that he will plead not guilty to the charges, but no plea was entered Feb. 23.
Powers and Mosley waived the reading of the charges.
Bail hearings were set for March 24 for Powers and April 15 for Mosley.
Powers and Mosley are each being held on $1 million bail, with Powers lodged at the Atlantic County Correctional Center, and Mosley lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendants are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
