Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

WILDWOOD – Members of the Wildwood Police Department Patrol and Detective Divisions conducted a narcotics investigation which resulted in the stop of a motor vehicle Oct. 4.
With the assistance of the Cape May County Sheriffs Department K9 Unit, this investigation led to the execution of a court authorized search warrant of said vehicle. The search yielded distribution quantities of heroin and cocaine, an amount of marijuana, as well as packaging materials commonly used to prepare narcotics for street level distribution.
In addition to the narcotics, the investigation led to the recovery of approximately $1,500 which was deemed to be the proceeds of illegal narcotics activity and is subject to forfeiture.
The driver of the vehicle, Jesus Rosa-Leon, 29, was charged with the following offenses:
Possession of CDS / heroin; a crime of the third degree
Possession of CDS / heroin with the intent to distribute; a crime of the third degree
Possession of CDS / heroin with intent to distribute in a school zone; a crime of the third degree
Possession of CDS / heroin with intent to distribute in a public place; a crime of the second degree
Possession of CDS / cocaine; a crime of the third degree
Possession of CDS / cocaine with the intent to distribute; a crime of the third degree
Possession of CDS / cocaine with intent to distribute in a school zone; a crime of the third degree
Possession of CDS / cocaine with intent to distribute in a public place; a crime of the second degree Financial facilitation of criminal activity; a crime of the third degree
Possession of CDS / marijuana under 50 grams; a disorderly persons offense
Possession of CDS paraphernalia; a disorderly persons offense
Judge Dorothy Garrabrant authorized a warrant and set bail at $250,000 full cash. Rosa-Leon was unable to post bail and he was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
