Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

NORTH CAPE MAY – Lower Township Police Special Officer Thomas Ritterhoff conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2004 Blue Chevy Pickup Truck in the area of Croydon Drive and Carlton Drive in the North Cape May section of Lower Township for a traffic violation Wednesday, Feb. 25 at approximately 11 p.m. The vehicle was being driven by Vito A. Sanzone, 18, who resides on Cedar Meadow Drive in Court House.
During the course of the investigation, Sanzone was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was arrested on scene and transported to the Lower Township Police Department where he was charged on a criminal complaint summons with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of CDS while operating a motor vehicle. He was additionally issued motor vehicle summonses related to the traffic violation.
Sanzone was released on his own recognizance pending court.
Assisting Special Officer Ritterhoff in the investigation was Patrolman Shawn Lafferty.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
