Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Cocaine Arrest

STONE HARBOR – Officer Anthony Tirelli stopped a motor vehicle belonging to Andrea Douglas for an expired vehicle registration June 6 at 10:07 a.m. During the stop, it was learned that Douglas had an active traffic warrant from North Wildwood for $89 in bail and a criminal warrant for bad checks from Middle Township Police for $250 bail.
Douglas was arrested and transported to the Stone Harbor Police Department where she was found to be in possession of a white powder, believed to be cocaine, a Schedule 11 narcotic, a third degree crime and drug paraphernalia. Douglass was processed and Stone Harbor Municipal Court Judge John W. Fowler Jr. authorized the issuance of a warrant on Douglass for possession of a schedule II narcotic with bail set at $5,000 / 10 percent. Patrolman Tirelli was assisted in this investigation by Cape May County Sheriff’s Department Cpl. Norcross and Sheriff K-9 “Scout.”
Douglass was additionally charged on Stone Harbor summonses with driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to exhibit insurance, driving with expired license and drugs in a motor vehicle. Unable to post bail, Douglas was transported to the Cape May County Correctional Facility. This matter is pending review by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
