Mother Faces Homicide Charges in Daughter’s ’14 Death

GOSHEN – The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office announced March 12 that Kristen J. Williams, formerly Kristin J. Conner, 40, of Villas, was charged with vehicular homicide, endangering the welfare of a child, and causing death while violating safety laws, all second degree crimes.
Williams is alleged to have recklessly caused the death of her child, Morgan Ferguson, 11, in a one-car motor vehicle crash that occurred July 9, 2014. The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. on Rt. 47 in Goshen in the northbound lane. Morgan was pronounced deceased about an hour later at Cape Regional Medical Center. Use of a cellular device at the time of the fatal crash is alleged in the charges.
Due to a conflict within the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office has appointed and sworn Cumberland County Senior Assistant Prosecutor Michael Ostrowski as a Special Deputy Attorney General to handle this matter. The primary investigative agency is the Middle Township Police Department.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
