Motel Tenant Arrested, Faces Drug Charges

RIO GRANDE – Middle Township Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at a motel in the 1000 block Route 47 South in Rio Grande April 7, with the assistance of the Cape May County SWAT Team and Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.  
As a result of the search warrant, Alicia Hernandez, 26, was arrested and 60 bags of suspected heroin and prescription medication (Percocet) were recovered.
Hernandez was charged with possession of heroin, third degree, possession of prescription medication (Percocet), third degree, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, third degree, and child endangerment, second degree.  Hernandez also had an outstanding traffic warrant and was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
